WOUND CARE IMPORTANCE GROWS IN HOME HEALTH
Seattle, WA (June 12, 2008) – OCS, Inc. (OCS) announces the release of the latest white paper in response to the increased attention that wound care is getting in the Home Health industry. Changes in Wound Care Outcomes Analysis – New Home Health Compare Measures, examines the significant growth of dollars spent on wound care and home health’s role in managing this potentially costly trend.
Co-authors, Tina Schwien, MN, MPH and Christine Lang, MBA of OCS explain that not only has CMS added two new measures to Home Health Compare that speak directly to wound improvements, but there is also a measure on surgical wounds included in the pay-for-performance (P4P) demonstration project and wound related items on the OASIS that have a greater contribution to reimbursement in PPS 2008 than previously.
Home health provides an effective and efficient option for caring for many patients with wounds – helping patients to heal, preventing infection and wound deterioration, and contributing to the overall health, well-being and recovery of post-operative and wound-ridden patients. Traditionally money losers under the former PPS system, may now provide agencies the opportunities to increase revenue.
